With different brands circulating it allows individuals to express themselves through different styles, colourways and looks, all of these factors have a play into why it has become so popular and for its popularity as others can appreciate how other individuals may style themselves. Someone that is highly involved in the shoe scene is often known as a sneaker head, this is name is given to people who collect, trade or admire shoes as an interest or hobby.
Major brands that are known in the shoe scene include brands such as Nike, Air Jordan, Adidas and Yeezy these brands are amongst the most popular brands in the shoe scene, they all create many different types and colours of shoes and then it becomes preference for the consumers. Unique designs are a key factor for a successful shoe design it needs to have good branding and be easily recognised from other brands and designs. The resale market, this is where shoes which are bought for retail from a store are resold to others who may not have been able to get their hands on them at release. For a desired shoe, re-sellers are able to charge a higher price than at retail. A reseller is a person who buys multiple shoes on release of popular dead-stock (A shoe that is new and unworn in the original box) shoes to sell for a profit. The sneaker reselling market is currently run by Stock X and GOAT, these are the most popular as they have facilities in place to inspect and check the authenticity of shoes being sold to customers before the transaction is completed.
